What this practice provides

Root + Rise Vermont offers occupational therapy-based handwriting evaluations and individualized handwriting intervention for children, delivered in the family's home in Chittenden County, Vermont, and surrounding areas. Sessions are private-pay: we don't bill insurance, and we can't guarantee that your insurer will reimburse you.

The articles and general information here are educational. They aren't a clinical assessment of your child and shouldn't be used as a substitute for one. Nothing on this site creates a therapist–client relationship; that begins only when you and Shannon agree to work together.

If your child needs urgent help, contact your physician or emergency services — not this website.

Booking a session

Submitting the form is a request, not a confirmed appointment. Shannon reviews each request and agrees a time with you directly. A paid evaluation or intervention session is confirmed once its invoice is paid; a discovery call is free and confirmed when scheduled.

Payment, cancellations, and refunds

Paid sessions are invoiced through Stripe and payable online before the session, or covered by a session pack you have already paid for.

• Cancel more than 48 hours before the session and you get the full value back. Anything you paid by card is refunded to that card; anything covered by account credit goes back to your account credit.
• Cancel within 48 hours of the session and the full value is kept as account credit toward a future booking, rather than refunded to your card.
• Account credit doesn't expire and is applied automatically the next time you book.
• Once a session's start time has passed it can no longer be cancelled online. If something happened, get in touch — we'd rather hear from you than apply a rule.
• If Shannon needs to move or cancel a session, the same 48-hour rule applies, and she may choose to refund you in full instead. You'll always be offered a new time.

Session packs

If you'd rather pay for a block of sessions up front, Shannon can sell you a session pack: a set number of sessions of one service, paid on a single invoice before the pack is used. A pack covers one service only, and account credit isn't applied to a pack invoice.

• Each time a session of that service is scheduled for you, one session comes off the pack. Your scheduling email tells you how many are left.
• A session that's cancelled before it starts — by you or by Shannon, at any notice — goes straight back on the pack. A session that isn't cancelled before it starts counts as used.
• Sessions can be scheduled against a pack before its invoice is paid; they're held until it is. A pack invoice that stays unpaid is cancelled, and anything scheduled against it is then invoiced on its own or cancelled.
• If you stop early, the unused sessions are returned to you — as account credit, or refunded to your card at Shannon's discretion — at the price per session you paid.
• A pack has a use-by date, normally two years from purchase. If it passes with sessions left, Shannon will contact you to extend it or return the unused sessions; nothing is forfeited automatically.
• There's still no stored payment method and no recurring charge.

Your account link

Emails include a private link for managing your appointment. Treat it like a password — anyone with the link can view or cancel that booking.

Tell us if you think it's been shared by mistake and we'll switch that link off. Sending you a new one does the same thing: each email carries a fresh link, and the previous one stops working.

Using the site fairly

Please don't attempt to break, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the site, and don't submit other people's information without their permission. Writing and images on the site remain the property of the practice — see the copyright and reuse page for what's welcome.

These terms may be updated as the practice changes. The date below tells you when they last were.
